Dharamsala Animal Rescue (DAR) was started in order to provide a humane environment for animals with direct benefits to the communities of Dharamsala, India. We work to end human deaths by rabies, provide humane animal control and rescue programs, adoption and community education. We strive to teach the community to treat the stray animal population as a local problem that can be managed with compassion and education. We are teaching local people to view animals as part of the community as opposed to pests that are diseased and unwanted. DAR focuses on five main programs designed to effectively achieve our mission and goals.
