Summerveld Hound Resort NPO 225-939 & PBO 930069359 is a registered non-profit & public benefit organization based in Assagay, KZN. We are a family of four, who have a passion for helping animals in need. We focus on rescuing & rehabiiliating abused, abandoned and neglected dogs. Our aim is to provide a safe haven for our rescues, allowing them to live the rest of their lives running freely on our private small holding, in a family friendly environment. We do live on the same property with our rescues, we could never abandon them. We follow a vegan diet as we strongly believe in justice, empathy & compassion for all animals. We ensure each of our rescues are fully vaccinated, sterilised and treated with the utmost love & care. Our rescues are fed according to their dietary requirements, and we are always monitoring their health & overall wellbeing. We currently have 80 rescue dogs living as permanent residents at our rescue sanctuary. These are dogs who were abandoned, strays, bred & discarded, unwanted, neglected, and abused. We take a lot of time to understand the needs of each of our rescues, as well as their behavior & temperaments. Each rescue is so unique & different from the next. They have their own special personalities & character which is well suited to their names. Besides having their names, they have about a hundred nicknames each which they respond to!Our rescues are placed into packs according to their individual temperaments. Proper introductions & socialization are key aspects to our sanctuary. Freedom is another key aspect of our sanctuary, there is no chaining of dogs. Our rescues have massive enclosures to play in, but this isn't good enough. So we rotate our rescues twice a day, every morning at 6am and every evening at 4pm so that every rescue runs outside of an enclosure. We also help feed, vaccinate, deworm, deflea and provide vet treatment for dogs in the Dassenhoek Township.We rely solely on donations from the public and every animal we have helped so far is thanks to the publics support & generosity.
