Cat Covered in Burns Rescued from California Wildfire Needs Your Help to Heal

Over the weekend, firefighters gained on containing the Eaton and Palisade Fires that have wreaked havoc on the Greater Los Angeles Area for nearly two weeks.

Pasadena Humane has been a safe haven for hundreds of lost and displaced animals. Several animals, like a cat we are calling Garfield, have arrived in need of emergency medical care.

A kind community member found the confused and injured cat and rushed him to Pasadena Humane.

Garfield arrived at the shelter with severe burns on his paws, body and face. His eyes were irritated from the smoke and his fur was singed.

He has been through a lot and needs your help to heal. With your support, Greater Good Charities is helping fund the care of these burned and injured animals.

Garfield receives daily treatment for his wounds as well as eye drops and pain medication. He remains in an oxygen kennel to help him recover.

The shelter took a moment to honor their heroes who wear scrubs, and we couldn't agree more with what they said. "Our incredible veterinarians and health teams have been working nonstop for the past 10 days, providing lifesaving care to animals affected by the Eaton Fire. Their courage, compassion, and tireless dedication have been nothing short of heroic. We are so proud of their work, and hope you’ll join us in recognizing their extraordinary efforts."

We are in awe of their heroism and honored to support them.

Greater Good Charities' Emergency Animal Medical fund provides grants to animals in life-threatening situations and saves lives.

Click to Help James

James and his blind brother, William, were found abandoned on the street when they were just four weeks old. James was born with one blind eye that started to cause him discomfort. Over time, that eye became increasingly painful and irritated. James is the seeing-eye cat for his brother, making his condition even more urgent to treat.
